Unknown Case: 74-year-old Woman With a Developing Asymmetry Within a Breast Hamartoma

A 74-year-old female with a known mammary hamartoma in the inner right breast presented palpable lump left breast. Bilateral diagnostic mammogram (Figure 1) and targeted US 2) were performed. Since hamartomas are subtype of fibroepithelial lesion, they contain epithelium, collagenous stroma, adipose tissue. The differential diagnosis for therefore includes lesions epithelial origin, such as invasive ductal or lobular carcinoma, high-risk lesions, cysts, stromal pseudoangiomatous hyperplasia. Lipid-rich carcinoma could be considered, although long history stable fat-containing circumcised (presumed hamartoma) makes rare entity less likely.
